Sodexo, a leading provider of on-site service solutions, has upgraded its Sedex membership to improve supply chain transparency and ensure its ethical and sustainable standards are being met.
Sedex has 3 levels of membership that reflect the different levels of data functionality available to users – Sodexo has upgraded its membership from level B to AB level.
AB membership is suitable for companies who wish to view and run reports on their suppliers’ ethical data, manage information on their own facilities, and share information with customers. This will enable Sodexo to improve transparency throughout its supply chain, effectively monitor standards at supplier sites and help drive improvements where necessary.
Michelle Hanson, commercial director, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “Conducting business with high ethical standards is fundamental to Sodexo. We already have a Supplier Code of Conduct which sets out our expectations of those with whom we conduct business with respect to sound and responsible ethical, social and environmental practices.
“We believe that compliance is best achieved through a process of continuous improvement over a period of time. This may include supplier self assessments, Sodexo and third party audits. We believe Sedex will be a valuable asset in our toolkit to drive improvements in responsible business practices. We take a robust approach in this area because we have set ourselves ambitious targets as part of our sustainability strategy to 2020, the Better Tomorrow Plan.”
Carmel Giblin, Sedex General Manager, said: “As one of the world’s largest on-site service solutions provider, Sodexo has a particularly long and complex supply chain. The Sedex system can be instrumental in helping Sodexo to gain a better understanding of its supply base and ensure that ethical and responsible standards are being met.”
