Sedex Welcomes Justin Bettey to its Senior Leadership Team

Sedex is delighted to announce that Justin Bettey has been appointed as Head of Content & Stakeholder Relations, effective 1st March 2016.
Justin joins Sedex from ELEVATE, a global company providing social, environmental and business supply chain solutions to international companies.

Via thousands of audits, training programmes, factory and worker engagement activities ELEVATE has successfully helped its partners manage risk and drive impact at both the company, supplier and factory level.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Justin to Sedex,” commented Jonathan Ivelaw-Chapman, Sedex CEO. “With his fifteen years of experience within the environmental, social & human rights and supply chain sector, Justin will play a key part in our growing international leadership team. His work with global brands and retailers on their responsible sourcing initiatives – including development of strategies and supply chain monitoring and assessment programmes – makes him well-placed to help lead Sedex in our mission to make it simpler to do business that’s good for everyone.”

“As a long-time supporter of Sedex, I am excited to be joining this fast-growing, global organisation at the forefront of responsible sourcing and supply chain management,” commented Justin. “More and more businesses are looking to understand how their supply chain works and to improve performance, and for me Sedex has always been a core catalyst and supporter of this process. I am looking forward to working in partnership with many of the world’s most recognisable brands and thousands of factories, producers and industry experts as part of Sedex’s global community.”

Justin has a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Greenwich and began his career within the certification sector working on social, safety and environmental standards and industry codes including SA8000, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001. Previous to ELEVATE Justin worked for Bureau Veritas, Kent County Council and MIM Metals. These various roles gave him the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world and see at first hand the conditions and challenges affecting workers throughout the supply chain.

Justin will be based in Sedex’s London office in his new role and will report directly to Jonathan Ivelaw-Chapman, Sedex CEO. He joins Sedex at a pivotal time, as the organisation sees its membership base grow to over 38,000 members in more than 30 industry sectors across 150 countries.
